Community Insurance Center Ltd (CIC) was established in 1978 and had its beginning in a vacant gas station located at 90 S. Washington St in Oxford. The merger of two successful Oakland County insurance agencies – Allen Insurance Agency founded in 1952 and Hall Insurance Agency formed in 1955 (later renamed Hall-Knauf Insurance Agency when Robert Knauf of Oxford purchased the interest of Harry Hall). Late in 1978, the new business entity of Community Insurance Center Ltd was formed. The present owners are Robert L Knauf and Donald R Harrison.
In 1986, the Tripp Insurance Agency in Metamora was acquired. Although business operations are managed through the main office located in Oxford, the Metamora branch, now known as Community Insurance Center II, adds convenience to those clients north of Oakland County. In 2005, the Metamora office relocated to 3900 S Lapeer Rd in Metamora (previously Hillside Cottage/Perkins Flowers), at the corners of M-24 and Dryden Rd.
In 2005, the Oxford branch of Community Insurance Center Ltd, also relocated to our current location of 932 S Lapeer Rd in Oxford. This office specializes in completing a "portfolio" for each of its clients. These portfolios may include Property & Casualty Insurance, Life & Health Insurance and Financial Investments.
Today, Community Insurance Center is one of the larger insurance agencies in Northern Oakland County. CIC is constantly seeking new ways to efficiently and effectively provide service to our existing as well as future clients. The computer systems, the latest management systems, and continuing professional education of all employees are just a few ways CIC is keeping pace with the ever-changing insurance industry and allows efficient and accurate service of their customers. "Planned Protection and Personal Service" for every customer is not just a slogan.
The agency staff includes three Certified Insurance Counselors, two Licensed Insurance Counselors, as well as several Licensed Agents. CIC is also a member of the Michigan Association of Independent Insurance Agents (MAIA) and is a Trusted Choice Agency.
Community Insurance Center Ltd, at both our Oxford and Metamora locations, are full service agencies handling Commercial, Life, Health, and Personal Lines of business.
